Heat Pumps in Okeechobee, FLOne unit. Both seasons.
One system cools the house all summer and heats it on cool mornings. We repair and replace them.
Heat Pumps
One system for the whole year
A heat pump is an air conditioner that can run in reverse. In summer it moves heat out of the house.
On a cool morning it flips and moves heat in from the outside air.
That is why many Florida homes use one instead of a furnace.
Heat is needed only some mornings here, so one system that does both jobs makes sense.
Electric heat strips back it up on the coldest nights.
We repair heat pumps and replace them when they are worn out.
We find the failed part, explain it and let you decide. Call (863) 532-6839 any hour, day or night.

What to look for
Signs your heat pump needs help
Cool air in heat mode
If it blows cool air on a cold morning, the reversing valve or the refrigerant charge may be at fault.
It will not switch modes
A stuck reversing valve can leave the system cooling when you want heat, or heating in summer.
Ice on the outdoor unit
Some frost in heat mode is normal. A unit that stays iced over points to a defrost problem.
A silent or noisy fan
A dead or slow fan motor or a bad capacitor keeps the outdoor unit from moving heat.
Backup heat always on
Heat strips that stay on use a lot of power and can mean the heat pump is not doing its part.
Age and repeat repairs
When repairs stack up, a new heat pump that meets current SEER2 minimums can make more sense.
Step by step
How a heat pump call goes.
Call any hour
Call (863) 532-6839 day or night and tell us what the heat pump is doing in each mode.
We test both modes
We check cooling and heating, the reversing valve, the defrost cycle, the fans and the heat strips.
You hear the fix first
We explain what failed and what the repair or replacement involves before any work starts.
Fixed and checked
We make the repair, run the system in the mode you need and check that it is working.

Where we do it
Heat pumps across three counties
We are based in Okeechobee and service heat pumps across Okeechobee, St. Lucie and Martin Counties.
Block homes and package units on manufactured homes get the same careful testing in both modes.
How does a heat pump heat in winter?
It runs the cooling cycle in reverse and moves heat from the outdoor air into the house.
On the coldest nights, electric heat strips back it up.
Do I still need a furnace with a heat pump?
Many Florida homes get by without one.
A heat pump with backup heat strips covers most cool mornings here.
Some homes and businesses do have gas heat.
Why is my heat pump blowing cool air?
In heat mode, a worn reversing valve, low refrigerant or a defrost fault can all do it.
A short burst of cool air during a defrost cycle is normal, so a longer stretch is the sign to call.
Can you repair or replace a heat pump?
Yes. We repair heat pumps and replace them when repair no longer makes sense.
Estimates are free, and from 2023 on new heat pumps in the Southeast must meet higher SEER2 minimums.
